@SimonCowell FIRES @NicoleSherzy, @SteveJones, and possibly @PaulaAbdul from #XFactor !!
     In a surprise move Simon Cowell and Fox went on a firing rampage today that is sending at least two of it’s first season personalitites packing. It was announced this morning that Steve Jones (host) and Nicole Scherzinger (judge???) would not be returning in an effort to shake things up, and there are loud rumours that Paula Abdul will be getting the same treatment ! XFactor unfortunately did not perform up to the expected standards and as the most expensive show on television they really need to bring those numbers up. But is firing the talent the answer?
Steve Jones
    While I actually liked Steve, it can be said he didn’t actually bring much excitment to the table. A lot of time he spoke rather monotone and didn’t convey the energy to me that I might have liked to see. Also, I’m assuming due to his british background, there are times when I found him a bit insensitive, crass if you will. I understand the UK style is to be a little bit cheeky, but I’m not sure it translated so well in America. I suspect he will go back to Britian and have a successful career on TV.
 Nicole Scherzinger
I liked Nicole when she was with the Pussycat Dolls. And I like her as a solo music artist. I didn not however in the very least like her as a Judge. She has that certain annoying quality that you feel when watching Dannii Minouge on the UK version of the show. Like you just want to smack her until she promises never ever to speak again. I really think Nicole got in way over her head. She’s a very positive person and seemed to lack the chops to make the hard decisions. She was weak-minded, unhelpful to the contestants she was mentoring, and really bad at working under pressure. I’m not saying I would be any better, but I also didn’t sign a multi-million dollar contract either. When she wasn’t looking confused (back off, that’s Paula’s gig) she was generally looking bored, as if she felt that she was far more talented than the people she was watching. I would have felt VERY uncomfortable if she were my mentor. I can actually picture a rehersal where she continuously grabs the mic from the hopeful and spends the entire afternoon singing into it until she decides to perform in place of her contestant lol. Please Nicole, you have a place in the entertainment world, it’s just that it’s making mediocre club hits and not in our living rooms every week. You guys know what I’m talking about right? Didn’t she drive you crazy?
Paula Abdul
Really? Really?!?! Hasn’t this poor woman been through enough with you Simon? Hasn’t she been put through the Hollywood reality tv washing-machine rince cycle enough? Personally finding out that Paula had been cast this season is a BIG reason I wanted to tune in. There is a special chemistry between her and Simon that I feel crossed over perfectly to the XFactor and it’s something that would be impossible to re-create. You would think after the whole Cheryl Cole debacle (http://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/simon-cowell-why-cheryl-cole-was-fired-from-x-factor-201178) that he would learn to get along better with the few women who can actually keep up with him and not throw them under the bus. I have to be honest it’s really hard for me to say right now if I will come back watching the show without her.
So the real question becomes, what happened? And can it be fixed? I really liked XFactor UK but somehow that magic didn’t translate over here in North America. In my opinion the stakes were simply too high. Simon offered too much money to the winner, the sets were too big, and by the time they were in the final 3 you knew exactly who was going to win and frankly, you didn’t care. Melanie Amaro has a lovely voice, but she’s too generic and I just couldn’t find myself rooting for her. Now you let me know when @drewryniewicz’s album comes out, that’s a girl worth paying attention to.
Good luck XFactor, should be interesting to see what 2012 has in store for you!
